First Dance Lessons in Chester, Cheshire & North Wales
Your first dance can feel daunting – but it really doesn’t have to be.
At Wedding Dance Chester, we specialise in helping complete beginners and nervous couples feel comfortable, confident and relaxed on the dance floor.
Whether you want a beautifully choreographed routine, a few simple moves so you don’t feel awkward, or just enough confidence to stop you shuffling on the spot, your lessons will be completely tailored to you.
No dance experience needed. No pressure. No judging. Just relaxed, private tuition designed around you, your song and the kind of first dance you want.
Nervous About Dancing?
You’re definitely not alone!
Lots of our couples tell us they’re nervous before their first lesson. Some have never danced before and some are dreading the thought of everyone watching them on their wedding day.
That’s why you don’t have to commit to lots of lessons.
You can simply start with one hour.
We’ll show you some easy moves, help you feel more comfortable together and get you moving naturally to your chosen song.
If you enjoy it and want to do more, you can add more lessons afterwards, subject to teacher availability.
And if all you wanted was enough confidence to enjoy your first dance without awkwardly shuffling from side to side – that’s absolutely fine too!

1 Hour Session
Perfect for getting started

Great if you:
- Are nervous about dancing
- Want to learn a few simple moves
- Don’t want a fully choreographed routine
- Want to meet your teacher and see how you feel before booking more lessons
You can always add more lessons afterwards, subject to teacher availability.
2 Hours
More confidence and choreography
£120
Two hours gives us more time to help you feel natural together, build your confidence and introduce choreography without committing to a complete routine.
This is a good option if you’d like something more than a simple shuffle but want to keep your first dance relaxed and uncomplicated.
6 Hours
For something extra special
£300
Choose six hours if you’d like a more detailed or ambitious routine, want extra rehearsal time, or simply want longer to perfect everything and feel completely confident.
The extra time gives us more opportunity to develop your choreography and practise it with you at a comfortable pace.
Not Sure How Many Hours You Need?
Start with one.
We never want you to feel pressured into booking more lessons than you’re comfortable with.
Book your first hour, meet your teacher and see how you feel. If you’d like to continue, you can add more lessons afterwards.
The only thing to bear in mind is that additional lessons are subject to teacher availability, particularly during busy wedding periods or when your wedding date is getting close.
If you already know you’d like us to create a complete first dance routine, we recommend booking the four-hour option so we can reserve your lesson time in advance.
Where Do Lessons Take Place?
Most of our lessons take place at the couple’s home – we’ve taught in front rooms, kitchens, gardens and even driveways!
If you don’t have enough space, we can also arrange lessons at your wedding venue or a local hall. Venue hire charges may apply.
Our team covers Chester, Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales.
For journeys over 10 miles from Chester, or CH7 3 for North Wales bookings, mileage is charged at 50p per mile.
How Booking Works
Get in touch with your wedding date, where you’re based and a little about what you’d like from your first dance.
A £50 deposit secures your booking.
You can choose a 1, 2, 4 or 6-hour option. If you’re nervous or not sure how much tuition you’ll want, you’re welcome to start with one hour and add more later, subject to availability.
Already chosen your song? Brilliant.
Haven’t got a clue what song to choose yet? That’s absolutely fine too!
Booking & Cancellation Terms
Your £50 deposit is refundable up to 14 days before your first lesson.
If you cancel within 14 days of your first lesson, the deposit is retained.
If you cancel a booked lesson with less than 72 hours’ notice, full payment for that session is required so that the teacher can still be paid for their time.
By paying the deposit you agree to these terms.
Additional lessons are subject to teacher availability.
Your Dance, Your Way
There is no right or wrong way to do a first dance.
You might want:
- A simple, natural dance that makes you feel confident
- A few special moves to surprise your guests
- A fully choreographed routine
- Something romantic and elegant
- Something fun and completely unexpected
We’ll work with what feels comfortable for you.
You won’t be expected to suddenly become professional dancers and we won’t force you into complicated choreography that doesn’t feel natural.
Our job is to make sure that when your song starts on your wedding day, you can look at each other and enjoy the moment rather than worrying about what your feet are doing.
